Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, rhythmic therapy designed to support the movement of lymph — a clear fluid responsible for clearing waste, excess fluid, and cellular debris through the body’s natural detoxification pathways. When lymph flow becomes sluggish due to stress, inflammation, surgery, injury, or everyday stagnation, MLD helps restore movement and balance using precise, wave-like techniques that encourage the body’s natural drainage processes.
This treatment helps reduce swelling, puffiness, water retention, and feelings of heaviness while supporting immune function, recovery, and nervous system regulation. Clients often notice immediate changes during treatment, including a sense of lightness, improved mobility, reduced facial or body puffiness, easier movement, and a calmer, more regulated state overall.
Unlike traditional massage, MLD uses extremely light, rhythmic movements rather than deep pressure. The treatment is deeply relaxing and often brings the nervous system into a meditative, restorative state while gently encouraging circulation and fluid movement throughout the body.
Sessions include gentle facial lymphatic drainage and dry facial brushing techniques to support facial decongestion and circulation. Clients receive a take-home facial lymphatic brush along with simple home-care guidance to support continued results between treatments.
Because lymph nodes are concentrated in areas such as the abdomen, inner thighs, and underarms, these areas may be included as part of treatment. You will always remain appropriately draped, with sensitive areas covered at all times, and all techniques are performed with professionalism and clinical care.
Contraindications
MLD is safe for most people, but there are situations where it is not recommended:
• Post-Operative Clients – Treatments should only begin once incisions are fully healed and cleared by your surgeon.
• Botox or Fillers – Wait at least six weeks before receiving MLD on treated areas.
• Autoimmune Conditions – Avoid during flare-ups; book only when stable or with your physician’s approval.
• Infections, blood clots, uncontrolled heart or kidney issues – MLD is contraindicated until cleared by a medical professional.
