Manual Lymphatic Drainage
What It Is
Your lymphatic system is like your body’s drainage network — a series of rivers and channels that carry away excess fluid, waste, and toxins. Many factors can block or slow this flow: stress, illness, surgery, scar tissue, hormonal changes, aging, injury, infections, chronic inflammation, or even simply sitting too much.
The result: swelling, puffiness, stagnation, or congestion.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) uses gentle, rhythmic strokes to “unblock the dams” and open the body’s main lymphatic pathways. Once those pathways are clear, fluid can flow freely again — like turning the taps back on or giving your body a full spring cleaning.
This advanced modality requires dedicated training, making it a sought-after treatment for both medical and aesthetic needs.

What It Does (Science + Evidence)
Clinically, MLD is proven to reduce lymphedema, support post-surgical recovery, and ease swelling. It also promotes detoxification by encouraging the removal of metabolic waste through the lymphatic system. By stimulating lymph flow in the abdomen, MLD can improve digestion and help relieve mild constipation. Aesthetically, it’s celebrated for depuffing, contouring, and enhancing skin tone. This hybrid approach makes it both medical and cosmetic, offering visible and functional results.

What a Treatment Looks Like
Unlike deep massage, MLD uses very light, rhythmic, wave-like strokes that work in harmony with your body’s natural rhythm. The movements are soothing and precise, stimulating lymphatic flow without pressure, often leaving clients in a meditative, deeply relaxed state.
Because lymph nodes are concentrated in areas such as the abdomen, inner thighs, and underarms, these areas may be included in treatment. You will always remain appropriately draped, with sensitive areas covered at all times, and techniques are performed with the utmost professionalism and care.

Contraindications
MLD is safe for most people, but there are situations where it is not recommended:
• Post-Operative Clients – Treatments should only begin once incisions are fully healed and cleared by your surgeon.
• Botox or Fillers – Wait at least six weeks before receiving MLD on treated areas.
• Autoimmune Conditions – Avoid during flare-ups; book only when stable or with your physician’s approval.
• Infections, blood clots, uncontrolled heart or kidney issues – MLD is contraindicated until cleared by a medical professional.
Your comfort and safety are always the priority — all details are discussed before treatment so the session is tailored safely to you.
